Here are the best deals

Amazon Prime Day is one of the year’s most anticipated shopping events.

But in 2022, shoppers may be less interested in backyard entertainment or Black Friday deals and more eager to get discounts on consumer goods to counter current inflation.

“People who want to attend Prime Day are going to focus more on practical purchases than fun things,” said Julie Ramhold, a consumer analyst at, from the two-day shopping event.

For the online retailer, this is also an opportunity to emphasize the value, added Casey Runyan, an agreement expert on Brad’s Deals to the discount marketplace online.

“Amazon really wants to prove the value of the Prime subscription, so I think we’ll see some really good deals on necessities, like toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, deodorant and detergent,” she said.

For that purpose, knowledgeable customers should get the most out of the upcoming sale, which starts at. 03.00 Eastern July 12 and lasts for 48 hours.

How to get the best deals on Prime Day – and avoid over-spending on the things you do not need right now.

Expect to find the best discounts on instant pots, exercise trackers and Amazon devices like the Kindle, Fire TV Streamer and even their private label clothes, said Ramhold.

Amazon is already advertising a 24-inch Fire TV for just $ 90, almost half the retail price.

Other early offers include up to 55% off second-generation Echo Show, Kindle Paperwhite and Eero Mesh Wi-Fi routers.

Markdowns on laptops and other electronics may not be worth as much, Ramhold warned. “We should see a larger selection and better prices when school-start shopping hits,” she said.

To take advantage of Prime Day offers, you must be an Amazon Prime member.

You can sign up for a month-to-month membership or a free trial. Dealers, however, should be wary of annual membership, Ramhold advised, since the retail giant raised the price to $ 139 from $ 119 earlier this year.

Then you download the Amazon app, browse through upcoming offers and mark the items you are interested in as “see”, she said. You will receive a notification when the price drops.

When an agreement is active, add the item to your shopping cart immediately. Some intermittent “Lightning offers” are quickly sold out, Ramhold said. Once it’s in your shopping cart, you have 15 minutes to decide if you want to complete the purchase.

Create the wish list and start tracking prices now

If there is a specific product you are set on and you do not see it in upcoming sales, you can create a wish list and Amazon will notify you if it becomes part of a Prime Day deal.

To take advantage of your savings even more, start price tracking now, said Kristin McGrath, a shopping expert at RetailMeNot.

McGrath recommends a price-saving browser extension such as Camelcamelcamel or Keepa to keep an eye on price changes and get alerts about price drops. “Price tracking is the easiest way to monitor how good the deal really is, especially for items with large tickets,” she said.

Also ask Alexa for help. “Amazon has been known to offer customers exclusive offers, or early access, if they shop via an Echo device,” said McGrath.
