Update # 2 [Thu 9th Jun, 2022 08:45 BST]: A trailer for the launch date for Marvel’s Midnight Suns has signaled a launch on October 7 for the game on all platforms except the Nintendo Switch, it seems. The Switch logo was especially absent from the Summer Game Fest 2022 trailer (below) and seems to indicate that the Switch version of the Firaxis game has been shelved.

We will update this story when we have more information.

Update # 1 [Sat 4th Jun, 2022 01:55 BST]: Game journalist Tom Henderson says that a revelation or at least a “re-revelation” for Marvel’s Midnight Suns could take place very soon.

The game is expected to appear at the Summer Game Fest and it is rumored that it will be released in October, and is expected to have three different versions – improved, legendary and standard. It is also expected to be premium leather.

Update [Thu 5th May, 2022 02:25 BST]: Following the delay in November last year, this game has now been rated by the Australian Classification Board.

It received an “M” for Mature rating and contains “mature themes and supernatural violence” along with in-game purchases. It is at least a sign that it is still on track for release in the second half of the year.

If we hear any updates regarding a release date, we’ll be sure to let you know.

Original history [Thu 4th Nov, 2021 05:30 GMT]: The delays do not stop now! Follows on from Spade Knight You2K and Firaxis Games have confirmed their tactical role-playing game Marvel’s midnight suns will no longer arrive in March 2022.

Instead, it has now been pushed back to the second half of the year. When it arrives, it will be released on several platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. The “tough decision” was made to ensure that this “dream project” for the team can be the best game when it is released.

Below is the full update from the development team:

On behalf of Firaxis Games, thank you for sharing how excited you are Marvel’s midnight suns. We’ve been thrilled to see your reaction to everything from the announcement of the game to the unveiling of our card-based tactical game. Marvel’s midnight suns is a real dream project for the team, and we can not express what an honor it is to create something new in the Marvel universe.

We decided to share that we have made the very tough decision to move our launch window to the second half of 2022. We know that many fans were looking forward to playing the game originally next spring, and this decision did not come easily. We decided to push our launch because we need more time to make this the best possible game. We believe in our creative vision for Marvel’s midnight suns and wants to do justice in delivering an unforgettable adventure set in the supernatural side of Marvel. These extra months will be used to add more history, cinema and general polishing, and will be crucial in helping us make our vision a reality.

Thanks for understanding – you are the best fans in the world.

—Jake Solomon, creative director and Garth DeAngelis, senior franchise producer
