NieR: Automata confirmed for switch, coming in October

Update [Tue 28th Jun, 2022 14:35 BST]: Following rumors earlier today that Yoko Taro and PlatinumGames’ Nier: Automata may be coming to Switch, the announcement has been officially made in today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase. Dubbed Kidney: Automata – The End of YoRHa Editionit launches on Switch October 6, 2022.

Original history [Tue 28th Jun, 2022 01:45 BST]: A special Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase will be released later today in the UK, and of course rumors have already started.

Nacho Requena, a Spanish gaming journalist who accurately predicted the date of the latest Direct along with the third-party focus, has reportedly teased some of the games that may be on their way to Nintendo’s hybrid platform.

One is Atlus’ Person the series and the other is believed to be Square Enix’s action RPG, NieR: Automater:

“I have also been told that some Persona games will be present, although I do not know which game

“I’ve also been told that there’s another game coming that has been available for a while on other platforms … it’s been available for four years now.”

This message came with same source that shares a GIF by Nier Director Yoko Taro, and a review of this other the game will be released between 2017 and 2018.

PlatinumGames’ title NieR: Automata first appeared on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017, and was followed by an Xbox One release in 2018. The team behind this release has previously mentioned how they would be open to a Switch port, and on a stage , Switch fans told to ask Square Enix if they wanted to see it happen. A NieR data mine last year is also said to have suggested possible Switch plans.

As for Persona, there have been ongoing rumors that the previous entries in the series will at some point appear on the Nintendo Switch, and recently Persona 3 portable, Persona 4 Goldenand Persona 5 Royal was announced for the Xbox during the showcase in 2022.

Another rumor that is circulating is that a Metroid Prime Remaster is apparently in line for November, and will follow both Prime 2 and 3.
